Four-year letterman in track & field and basketball; four-time all-American high jumper, finishing in top five in the NAIA national meet all four years, including 2nd in 1968 when he qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials; won three NWC high jump and one triple jump titles; set L&C high jump record in 1970 at 6 feet, 10 inches; best triple jump was 45 feet, 10 inches; led basketball team in rebounding as a senior; had career average of 7.4 points and 7.0 rebounds.
