Coached by Jim Goddard, the men’s basketball team went to the NAIA National Championship, winning two games before falling to Western Carolina; 23-6 overall record, 13-2 in league play, first place in Conference; the .793 win percentage is one of the best in the history of the sport in Palatine Hill; team featured first team All-American Jim Boutin who led the team in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game.
