As a Pioneer Athlete, Donna Roisom was undefeated in tennis playing Number 1 singles and finished first in NCWSA. Roisom was a member of the Championship Team as well as the All Star Tennis Team. She was also a member of the women’s basketball All Star Honorable Mention Team and Championship Team; her collective sports experiences resulted in 10 letters out of 12 seasons during her College tenure. Upon graduating, Roisom has received the District Coach of the Year for Girls in 1997, and for Boys in 1998, 1999, 2002, and 2005. She also received State Coach of the Year for Boys in 2002 and for Girls in 2018; she also received Sectional Coach of the Year for Boys in 2002 and for Girls in 2018.

After graduating in 1978, Roisom received her MAT in 1985 from L&C. In 2003, Roisom was one class from receiving administration degree when her mother had a stroke, and so she focused her energy on caring for her. Roisom taught grade school and high school for 29 years teaching health and PE, being athletic director and coaching volleyball, basketball and tennis.

When Roisom’s father passed in 2006, she took on the caring for her mother who had Alzheimer’s, quitting teaching and coaching until her mother’s passing this past April 2019.

In 2016, Roisom was asked to coach by the parents and players of Grant High School, which she has been doing since then and will return to this academic year. Under her coaching, a singles player or doubles team has gone to state every year.

Roisom’s passion has always being teaching and coaching, and she continues to teach tennis to this day. She also currently plays on seven different tennis teams.
