National NAIA Division II co-Player of the Year in football in 1976; 2nd team all-American quarterback who set three national records as a junior; single-season records included 3,107 yards passing, 349.6 yards per game and a .617 completion mark; in all he set 31 national, conference and L&C records during his career; career-ending injury in second game of his senior season kept him from setting at least a dozen more records.
