Broughton began her rowing career as a true novice her sophomore year at Lewis & Clark. Less than 10 years later, she was on the podium accepting a silver medal at the 2010 World Championships.
After three years of learning and competing in the sport at Lewis & Clark, she made the first of her three U.S. National Teams in rowing in 2006. Just three years later, Broughton went on to win a bronze medal at the 2009 World Championships in the lightweight women’s quadruple sculls category. She put together her best season in 2010. Broughton teamed up with Ursula Van Graan to win a World Cup race in Beld, Austria and then went on to win the silver medal at the 2010 World Championships in the lightweight women’s quadruple sculls.
Since retiring, she has become a champion in the sport of Adventure Racing. Broughton and her team won the 2014 and 2015 Adventure Racing National Titles and they placed 14th at the 2017 World Championships.
