Coached by Eldon Fix, the Pioneer track & field team went undefeated (6-0) and was held under 100 points (out of 163 points possible in a dual meet) by only 2 teams;  NWC champions with 195 points (a total point record at the time), a 60 1/2-point margin over 2nd place;  won 9 of 20 events at the meet, setting meet records in 4 events, and scoring in 18 of 20;  District 2 meet champions with 172 points, 68 points more than 2nd place;  scored in 21 of 23 events with 5 district champions and 1 meet record set;  finished 11th out of 118 teams, competing at the NAIA national championships;  4 members earned All-American honors;  also broke 8 school records over the course of the season.
