Tamma Carleton still ranks as one of the top-scholar athletes in Lewis & Clark track and cross country history. From 2005 to 2009, Carleton earned a spot at four-straight National Championship Cross Country Meets, was named All-Northwest Conference four times and carved out a spot on the 2007 All-Region team. Her success carried over to the track, as she won the NWC title in the 10,000 meters during her senior season. Carleton still ranks in the top five all-time in cross country on a six-kilometer course and in the 5K and 10K for track & field.

Outside of competition, Carleton is one of the most renowned students ever at Lewis & Clark. She is one of three student-athletes from the institution to be named a Rhodes Scholar. Through her academic excellence, she was named a two-time Academic All-District honoree, the 2009 Judy McMullen Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Carleton was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and the Robert B. Pamplin, Jr, Society of Fellows.
