McMullen was a constant presence for Lewis & Clark athletics in a career that spanned nearly 20 years and encompassed many different capacities. Judy retired in 2007 after spending 13 years as the associate director of physical education and athletics/senior woman administrator and the head women’s basketball coach from 1994-96. She served on countless NCAA, department, and institutional committees, and was a member of a wide variety of coaching and administrative associations. She was heavily involved in the transition of the department from NAIA to Division III and was instrumental in elevating the rowing program to varsity status. Additionally, she held the role of interim director of athletics for much of the 2005-06 academic year.

Judy returned to Palatine Hill in 2008  for a second stint in a new capacity as the senior associate director of physical education and athletics for academic support. During her time back, she was able to connect at an even greater level with the students and the campus community. She has both a rowing shell and a department award named in her honor.
