The 1968 Track and Field team won the conference championship by a 35.5 margin in addition to a District 2 Championship, and had three different student-athletes qualify for individual awards. David Fix, who later became the long-time head coach of the program, was selected a District 2 All-Star. Vern Jones won the 880 conference championship, earning All-Conference and All-American honors. Tim Wright qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials while also earning All-American status.
