Woodard has signed his name into the Lewis & Clark record books in three different decades. He finished among the top ten cross country runners in the Northwest Conference 1968-70, and finished ninth in District II in 1968 and fifth in 1971. Both the 1968 and 1971 teams won the NAIA District II championships. During his second tour at L&C, Woodard won the NCIC track and field 5,000 meter in 1988. He was the NAIA District II champion in the 10,000 and 5,000 in 1989. His fifth-place finish at nationals in the 10,000 earned him a spot on the NCAA All-American team in 1989.
