Four-year letterman in football; three-time all-Northwest Conference selection—as a defensive back as a sophomore and junior and an offensive back as a senior; led team in rushing (760 yards) and scoring (34 points) during his senior season; signed as a free agent with the Washington Redskins and went on to become the first Pioneer to make it in the NFL, playing four years with the Redskins before being sidelined with injuries.
