The 2012 women's cross country team still stands as the only women's team and one of two teams in program history to have qualified for Nationals as a team. Fresh off winning their first-ever Northwest Conference Team Titles in 2010 and 2011, the 2012 team put together a dominant performance across their seven meets. Cross country won four meets and finished in the top-four as a team in their first six meets of the season. Lewis & Clark opened the season with wins at the Linfield Dual, the Sundodger Invitational (1st out of 19) and the L&C Invitational (1st out of 5 teams). The Pioneers put together their most dominant performance ever at the NWC Championship Meet. Five runners finished in the top-eight spots and Lewis & Clark scored a program-record best score of 21 points (just six over the lowest possible team score). Cross country followed up their NWC showing with a second-place finish at the NCAA DIII Regional Championship Meet. Lewis & Clark finished second only to Claremont Mudd-Scripps (third in the nation) and six harriers earned All-Region accolades. Their performance secured a spot for  the NCAA DIII National Championship Meet in Indiana. At NCAAs, Lewis & Clark placed 20th out of 32 teams, with Emily Thomas (46th) and Melissa Newton-Mora (73rd) leading the team. Thomas, Newton-Mora, Kaitlyn Throgmorton, Heather Spurling and Emily Fagan all earned All-Conference and All-Region honors, while Katherine Keith took home All-Region recognition.
