NEWBERG and PORTLAND, Ore.—Juniors
Jordan Lahusky and
Noah Nelson each earned event victories to lead Lewis & Clark College men's track & field at the George Fox Indoor #1 and Portland Indoor #2 Meets on Saturday and Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nelson and Lahusky combined to help Lewis & Clark win all three of their events on the weekend, as Lewis & Clark sent split squads to George Fox on Saturday and the University of Portland on Sunday.
George Fox Indoor #1
First year
Jaden Mwendapole led six Pioneer sprinters in the 60M to lead Lewis & Clark on Saturday.
The first year was one of four student-athletes making their collegiate track & field debuts in the 60M Dash. Mwendapole, who missed the football season with an injury, posted a team-best time of 7.39 to finish 37
th out of 123 runners in his collegiate athletics debut. First year
Aiden Wood placed 48
th overall with a time of 7.46 in his track & field debut. Junior
Jon Fritz came across in 7.47 to finish 52

Zaren Crockett, who was making his track & field debut, came in 89

Kris Adams crossed the line in 7.87 in his track & field debut.
Sophomore
Liam Stanley was Lewis & Clark's lone thrower to compete on Saturday. Stanley finished 13
th in the weight throw with a mark of 8.65M (28-04.50 Feet). He took 23
rd in the shot put with a throw of 8.33M (27-04.00 Feet).
Portland Indoor #2 Meet
Lahusky and Nelson led a contingent of mid-distance and distance runners on Sunday at the Chiles Center.
Lahusky won the first men's event of the day in the 200M. He crossed the line in 23.36 to finish first out of eight runners. His time put him 0.23 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Pacific University.
Nelson added a second-straight win, when he took the victory in the 800M. Nelson finished first out of 19 competitors with a program-record time of 1:56.62. He beat Nathan Short from the University of Portland (NCAA DI) in a photo-finish. The two runners were separated by just .007 seconds. Sophomore
Baba Cisse finished the race in 2:11.07 to finish in 14

Teagon Aasen came across in 2:18.54 to place 18
th overall.

Harrison Fung led Lewis & Clark in the 400M. He placed fifth overall with a time of 51.65. His time moved him into fourth place in program history.

Evan Markelz led nine Lewis & Clark runners in the Mile. The sophomore finished fourth out of 48 runners with a time of 4:17.44. He moved into third-place all-time in program history in the event. Junior
Peter Ford (4:23.54) and sophomore
Quinn Higgins (4:23.69) finished in seventh and ninth places. Ford cracked the top-10 with the seventh-fastest time in program history. Sophomores
Samuel Garcia (ninth fastest in program history) and
Gavin Sellers (14
th fastest in program history) placed 15
th and 25
th overall. Garcia crossed the line in 4:25.92 and Sellers completed the race in 4:33.19.

John Blockhus added a PR time of 4:41.87 to finish 35

BY THE NUMBERS
- Lewis & Clark had five mixed relay teams compete in the 4x400M Relay. The quartet of Malia Heien, Elsie Chin, Nelson and Lahusky finished first out of 11 teams with a time of 3:48.40. They finished 0.96 seconds ahead of a team from D1 University of Portland.
- Nelson's PR time in the 800M broke his own program-record time by nearly three seconds.
- Lewis & Clark's 4x400M Relay B team of Miriam Reside, Callow Soto, Fung and Higgins placed fourth overall in 4:04.70. Riley Buese, Madeleine Boyle, Aasen and Wu completed the race in 4:07.87 to place sixth. Mackenzie Olver, Nadia Cota, Sellers and Ford finished in eighth place (4:16.66). Maeva Conroy, Talia Tomhave, Markelz and Garcia completed the race in 4:18.07 to finish in ninth place.
- Mwendapole's time of 7.39 in the 60M is tied for 13th in program history. Wood also posted a top-20 all-time mark and now sits 17th.

Lewis & Clark will send a small contingent of runners to the University of Washington's Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday.
