NEW ORLEANS, La.āTwo Lewis & Clark student-athletes and both men's and women's track & field teams were recognized as U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field All-Academic honorees, the USTFCCCA announced on Monday morning.

The men's and women's teams each qualified after both squads met the mark of posting at least a 3.1 cumulative team GPA. The women's team recorded a team GPA of 3.50 to earn the award for a 14
th-straight season. The men's team were honored for the fifth-straight year and 12
thĀ time in 13 years - after registering a team GPA of 3.16.Ā

Riley Buese and junior
Malia Heien each were honored as USTFCCCA NCAA DIII Track & Field All-Academic Athletes. The women's track & field duo were recognized together for the second-straight year. Buese earned her fourth-consecutive USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for track & field.Ā

In order to be recognized, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and must have finished the indoor or outdoor track & seasons ranked in the top 50 individuals in their event nationally.

Buese wraps up her career an eight-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. She earnedĀ the award in all four years for both cross country and track & field. The senior Biology major finished in the top-50 in NCAA DIII this season in five events. During the Indoor season, she wrapped up the regular season sitting sixth in DIII in both the 3,000M (9:40.03) and the 5,000M (16:39.15). She added three more top-50 marks during the Outdoor season. Buese placed third in the 10K (36:16.33), 11
thĀ in the 5,000M (16:36.64) and 44
thĀ in the 1,500M (4:32.52). Earlier this month, Buese was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) First Team Academic All-American. She is just the second student-athlete in school history to earn First Team Academic All-American honors.Ā

Heien is now a five-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. She earned the award in each of the past two years in track & field and all three of her cross country seasons. The junior Biochemistry & Molecular Biology major cracked the top-50 during Outdoor Track in the 800M. She broke her own program record in the 800M at the Portland Twilight, when she crossed the line in 2:11.17. Heien finished the season ranked 28
