Women's Soccer Kicks Off 2025 With Iceland Adventure

International tour, four Friday night games, and matchups with Chapman, UC Santa Cruz and UW-Oshkosh highlight 2025 schedule.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Lewis & Clark College women's soccer team has announced its 2025 schedule, featuring 26 total contests, including 20 regular-season games, 12 home dates at Griswold Stadium, a five-game Northwest Conference road stretch and a preseason exhibition tour through the Land of Fire and Ice.

The Pioneers will kick off their year with an international trip to Iceland, the home of senior goalkeeper Anna Ingadottir, from Aug. 16–24. The tour will include three exhibition contests designed to prepare the team for the regular season. Dates, opponents and times for the Iceland games will be announced later this summer.

Lewis & Clark opens its domestic slate with a road exhibition at Corban University on Tuesday, Aug. 26. The Pioneers then travel to Warner Pacific University on Friday, Sept. 12, and round out their preseason with the annual Alumni Game at Griswold on Sunday, Sept. 14.

The regular season begins Friday, Aug. 29, with the Pioneers' home opener against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Titans finished seventh in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2024 with a 3-13-2 record.

On Sunday, Aug. 31, Lewis & Clark hosts Chapman University in the fifth all-time meeting between the two teams. The Panthers lead the series 4-0, with the first matchup taking place in 2012. Chapman went 6-9-2 last season and finished fifth in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference before falling in the SCIAC Tournament's opening round to Whittier College.

The Pioneers face another non-conference test on Sept. 7 when they welcome the University of California, Santa Cruz. Lewis & Clark is 2-0 all-time against the Banana Slugs, last facing them in 2018. UC Santa Cruz is coming off a standout 2024 season, finishing second in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference before winning the tournament title over NCAA semifinalist Christopher Newport University. The Slugs were eliminated in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on penalty kicks, 5-4, by Pomona-Pitzer.

Northwest Conference play begins Sept. 20–21 with a challenging road trip to the University of Puget Sound, the 2024 NWC runner-up, and defending champion Pacific Lutheran University. PLU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last fall before falling 1-0 to eventual national semifinalist Emory University. Whitworth University and Whitman College rounded out the league's top four.

The Pioneers will host all four of those NWC powers this fall, welcoming Whitman on Friday, Oct. 3, Whitworth on Sunday, Oct. 5, Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Puget Sound on Sunday, Oct. 19.

In total, Lewis & Clark will play four Friday night games this season, including two rare NWC contests, hosting the Blues on Oct. 3 and visiting Pacific University on Oct. 24. The last time the Pios played a Friday night conference game was in 2018, when they edged Whitman 2-1 at Griswold.

The Friday night game at Pacific kicks off the team's longest road stretch of the season. The Pioneers then travel to George Fox University on Sunday, Oct. 26, before their annual trip to the "Whits" the first weekend of November. They face Whitworth in Spokane on Saturday, Nov. 1, and Whitman in Walla Walla on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Lewis & Clark closes out the regular season Nov. 8–9 with a road game at Linfield University, followed by a Senior Day showdown against Willamette University. The Pios will honor nine seniors prior to the final home contest against the Bearcats.

This fall, the women's team will play the opening game of each Northwest Conference doubleheader with the men's team. Saturday and Sunday games will kick off at noon, with Friday contests starting at 5 p.m. Each of the final four games of the season will begin at 11 a.m.

The Pioneers return 21 players from last season's roster, including senior Megan Yanagi, the 2022 Northwest Conference Rookie of the Year, along with fellow seniors Carli Driskill, Kate Meinhard and Ingadottir. Driskill and Meinhard finished second and third in goals scored last season, while juniors Grace Smith (4 assists), Iris Stutzman (3) and Driskill (3) led the team in assists.
