THE BASICS
Ā
Northwest 3, Lewis & Clark 2
(Lewis & Clark 0-2-1)Ā
(Northwest 4-2)Ā

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ā
Lewis & Clark scored a pair of goals off of free kicks and nearly equalized multiple times late in the second half but fell just short in the non-conference matchup.Ā
Ā
Driskill scored off a direct free kick in the 9thĀ minute. Yip tied the game at 2-2 just before halftime, when she scored off a perfectly executed corner kick. Juniors Mackenzie Olver and Rowan Levandoski each picked up assists on the play.Ā
Ā
Senior Delaney Jones made her first start of the season for Lewis & Clark in net. Jones posted six saves on nine shots, including a leaping effort to keep the deficit at 2-1 in the first half.Ā
Ā
Rachel Snow, Kennedy Leach and Kiersten Hendrickson all scored for the visitors, who earned their third-consecutive victory.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark opened the scoring at 8:49. Junior Iris Stutzman earned a foul just outside the 18-yard box on the right side of the field. With everyone expecting Driskill to cross the ball, she fired a shot across the goalmouth that went off the hands of the Eagles keeper and in to make it 1-0.Ā
Ā
Northwest tied the game at 17:32 off a corner kick. The ball rattled around the box and fell to Snow, who sent a right-footed shot through traffic to make it 1-1.Ā
Ā
Leach gave Northwest their first lead of the contest at 23:04. Sara Becerra picked up an assist on the play.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark tied the score with under 90 seconds to go in the half. Levandoski sent a corner kick to the near post and Olver back-heel flicked the ball to the middle of the box. Yip, who was making her collegiate debut in the contest, pounced on the ball and sent a right-footed shot past the keeper to make it 2-2 at 43:48.Ā
Ā
The visitors grabbed the lead back early in the second half. Hendrickson scored off assists from Becerra and Megan Hurley to make it 3-2 at 47:11.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark wouldn't go down without a fight and had several great chances to tie the game. Yip had one of the best looks, when she received a cross inside the box but her shot went just over the crossbar. Seniors Kate Meinhard and Sophie Rossier both posted shots on target in the final two minutes – but both efforts were saved.Ā
Ā
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Northwest held a 21-12 edge in total shots and a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal.Ā
  • Both teams finished the contest with six total saves.Ā

  • Driskill scored her fifth collegiate goal on Saturday and now has at least one goal in each of her past three seasons.Ā Ā
