PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College women's soccer wrapped up its opening weekend on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Chapman University in non-conference action at Griswold Stadium.

THE BASICS

(Lewis & Clark 0-1-1)
(Chapman 2-0-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Senior goalkeeper Anna Ingadottir reset her career-high for the second straight game with 10 saves in a complete-game effort, anchoring a defense that weathered 25 Chapman shots, including 14 on target.

The Pioneers created early chances with pressure in the opening minutes. Sophomores Siena Flock and Kailani Pascua tested the Chapman defense early. Flock fired wide in the eighth minute, and Pascua forced a save seconds later with a low strike from inside the box.

The Panthers responded with five straight shots, four of which were stopped by Ingadottir, including a diving save in the 19th minute to keep the game scoreless.

In the 26th minute, junior Mackenzie Olver sent a cross into the box from the near side and found fellow junior Iris Stutzman charging toward goal. Stutzman slipped behind the defense for a one-on-one with Chapman keeper Siena Gomez, but her touch sailed wide. Three minutes later, sophomore Tatum Akimoto-Albarado's 30-yard attempt from straight on was blocked.

Chapman broke through late in the first half when Alexis Sweeney scored in the 41st minute off a ball played through by Nikki Zokaei and Ella Tovar. The Pioneers nearly answered before halftime, earning a corner kick in the 42nd minute, but could not convert.

The Panthers extended their advantage in the second half. Zokaei doubled the lead in the 72nd minute after Ingadottir saved the initial attempt from Sidney Karjian, but the rebound bounced around the box before Sweeney found Zokaei at the near post. Just under 10 minutes later, Zokaei struck again, finishing a pass from Andrea DiVittorio to seal the result.

Lewis & Clark pressed late, with Stutzman and Flock combining for chances in the 86th minute. Stutzman's shot from the near side was blocked, and Flock's attempt from the far side sailed high.
