Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers beat the Schreiner Mountaineers 61-58 Saturday afternoon at Pamplin Sports Center, earning back-to-back home wins at home.
Charlotte Carroll, Delsie Johnson, and Peyton Romo led the scoring efforts for the Pioneers. Carroll posted 16 points and went 7-12 from the line, while Johnson scored 12 and went 6-8 in free throws. Romo hit 3 of 4 free throws and 2 of 5 three-pointers and put up 11 points. The bench contributed 27 points.
The Pioneers outrebounded the Mountaineers 46-34 and scored 20 second-chance points to Schreiner's two. Jamison Richards, Gabby Beltran and Karli Mukai all contributed two assists to the Pioneers' nine overall. Beltran was also the leading rebounder with eight. The teams were evenly matched with 13 steals each.
Head Coach Ann Dorris was pleased with the performance, saying "I'm so proud of our unity and our resilience as we fought through a very physical game. We started to find our rhythm towards the end of the first half and adjusted really well coming out of halftime. We got a lot of energy from our defense and did a great job staying composed down the stretch. I thought Beltran did an amazing job setting the tone for our defense and fighting for offensive boards, our seniors hit some big free throws and provided incredible leadership in key moments, and our young players gave us a spark every time we needed it."
