Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team dropped a critical Northwest Conference game to the Pacific Boxers on Saturday night, falling 76-53.
The game was for sole possession of fifth place in the conference which now belongs to Pacific with a 5-7 NWC record (9-12 overall). The Pioneers fall to 7-14 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
Sophomore Ayisat Afolabi led the Pioneers with 13 points and five rebounds, while picking up a single steal. Miyah Leith netted 12 points for Lewis & Clark on 5-of-8 shooting, while pulling down four boards.
Olivia Cook led all players in both scoring and rebounding with the games only double-double. The Boxer knocked down 26 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the floor and collected 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers started the scoring with a three-pointer from Anderson, which was followed up by a jumper from Afolabi to put the Pios ahead 5-0. The Boxers worked their way back into the contest, taking the lead with 16:19 left to play.
Lewis & Clark pushed ahead to an 18-10 lead over the next four minutes. The Boxers once again fought to cut the deficit, tying the game at 22 all with 6:20 remaining in the first half. Pacific took the lead back for good with 4:53 to play on a jumper by Sarah Curl. The Boxers closed out the first half with a 39-30 advantage.
The second half began with both teams trading baskets, but the Pioneers would trail by double-digits the rest of the contest.
The Pioneers return to action with a midweek game at Willamette on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
