PORTLAND, Ore. -- Lewis & Clark College women's basketball fell 78-58 to Pacific Lutheran University on Friday night at Pamplin Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore
Kaitlen Carns led the River Otters with 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. She added six rebounds and three assists while converting 3-of-4 attempts from the free-throw line. Junior
Divinity Singleton tied her career high with 14 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. First-year
Hailey Perez finished with 11 points, including a pair of three-pointers.
Pacific Lutheran opened the scoring when Lilli Williams converted a layup 13 seconds into the game. Lewis & Clark answered at the 9:20 mark as Perez knocked down a three-pointer to give the River Otters their only lead of the night, 3-2.
The Lutes responded with a three-pointer by Kylie Griffin to retake the lead, 5-3. Perez tied the game at 5-all with a jumper at 7:43, but Pacific Lutheran scored the next three points. Carns pulled Lewis & Clark within one, 8-7, with a jumper in the paint at 6:48.
First-year
Ky Roussin scored on a layup at 4:11 to cut the deficit to 10-9. Singleton added a layup at 2:30 to make it 12-11, but the Lutes closed the quarter on a run to take a 15-11 lead into the second period.
Perez converted an and-one just over a minute into the second quarter to pull Lewis & Clark within one, 15-14. Pacific Lutheran answered with an 11-0 run to extend its advantage to 28-14 with four minutes remaining before halftime. The River Otters closed the half on a 7-2 run to trim the deficit to 30-21 at the break.
Lewis & Clark mounted a challenge in the third quarter, opening the period with defensive pressure and cutting the deficit to five. First-year
Lilly Jordan completed a three-point play at the 5:29 mark to make it 36-31. Pacific Lutheran responded with a 15-3 run and carried a 53-40 lead into the final quarter.
Carns scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, connecting on a three-pointer and converting all five free-throw attempts. Perez added a three-pointer at 2:17, but Pacific Lutheran outscored Lewis & Clark 25-18 in the final period to secure the win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Roussin finished second on the team with seven rebounds.
- Juniors Kaela Guidry and DJ Kendrick, along Jordan, recorded three rebounds apiece.
- Guidry (four points), senior Madelyn Sanchez (three), Jordan (three) and first-year Ali McCauley (one) rounded out the scoring.
