PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team pulled out all the stops on Friday night, upsetting #25 Whitworth 82-78 in Northwest Conference action. Senior Katie Anderson netted a game-high 31 points in the win, while junior Casey Zinn recorded the teams only double-double. 

The win keeps the Pioneers play-off hopes alive as they move to 13-11 overall and 8-7 in conference play. Whitworth falls to 18-7 on the season and 12-4 in the NWC. 

Anderson led all players with 31 points, ending the night 10-of-17 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. The senior guard also picked up a game-high two blocks. Ayisat Afolabi netted 18 points in the win, while finishing just one rebound shy of a double-double. Casey Zinn earned the only double-double of the contest scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 boards.

KC McConnell and Kendra Lahue each scored 19 points for the Pirates, while teammate Kayla Johnson knocked down 17.

The Pioneers pulled ahead early but were unable to pull ahead by a significant margin until the 4:59 mark when Zinn sank a free-throw, earning the Pios a 35-25 lead.  Whitworth cut the Pio advantage to single digits right before the intermission on a McConnell jump shot, making it a 43-34 contest.

Whitworth came out strong in the second half, pulling within three points in the opening three minutes. McConnell gave the Pirates their only lead of the second half on a free-thrown at the 14:49 mark. Zinn responded with a three-pointer that gave the lead back for the Pioneers for good. Whitworth would keep the contest close, but would never be able to do enough to take over the game. 

Lewis & Clark takes on Whitman at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 in the final regular season game of the year. Prior to the start the Pioneers will honor their six graduating seniors.
