WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team hit the road on Friday night for a Northwest Conference contest against #3 Whitman College. The Pioneers fell to the host Missionaries 78-61.

The loss drops the Pioneers to 9-7 on the season and 4-3 in the NWC. The Missionaries have yet to drop a game this season, improving to 17-0 overall and 8-0 in conference action.

For the third consecutive game, Wang scored 20+ points, knocking down a game-high 24. Wang has scored in double-digits in all but one game this season. Wang ended the game 7-of-11 from the free-throw line and 7-of-17 from the floor. The senior guard, along with Katie Anderson and Daron Dean, came up with a game-high two steals.

Freshman Ayisat Afolabi led the Pioneers with six rebounds, while Wang, Kathlene Howe and Casey Zinn each pulled down five.

Tiffani Traver led the Missionaries with 17 points, while Sarah Anderegg knocked down 16 points and collected 10 boards for the only double-double of the contest.

After Zinn tied the game at 2-2, it would take nearly three minutes before either side would put the ball through the basket. Howe earned the Pioneers their first lead of the game with 13:11 on the clock after hitting a turnaround jumper. The two sides would keep it close, jockeying for control of the lead over the next five minutes.

The Missionaries would begin to pull away with 7:29 remaining until halftime, closing out the period on a 16-3 run.

Trailing 42-24, Zinn got things started for L&C in the second half, draining a three-pointer in the opening minute. Lewis & Clark pulled within eight points of the Missionaries on a Reese DeHart layup with 14:24 to go. Despite their best effort the Pioneers would not pull any closer.

Lewis & Clark travels to Spokane, Wash. for its next contest on Saturday, Jan. 25 against Whitworth. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
