TACOMA, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark women's
soccer team concluded their weekend trip to Tacoma, Wash., on
Sunday with a 3-0 loss to the Puget Sound Loggers. Puget Sound
(5-0-1) is currently ranked 12th in the nation. The loss brings the
Pioneers record to 2-2-2 on the season, 0-2 in the Northwest
Conference.
Puget Sound came out ready and firing on Saturday. The
Loggers scored quickly and played efficiently against the Pioneers,
outshooting Lewis & Clark 28-5 in the match 16
of which were put on goal. The first goal of the day came
within the first few minutes of the game off the foot of Theresa
Henle. It is her third goal in as many games. The loggers added two
more goals in the second half. First, Gabbi Duhl headed a ball
into the back of the net in the earlty minutes of the second half
and then Mikaela Freeman kicked in a rebound off of
a diving save by Shayna Lentz in
the 63rd minute. Goalkeepers Elise Delgado
and Lentz did all they could, combining for 13 saves on the
day. Austyn
Byassee led the Pioneers taking two shots in the game.
The Lewis & Clark women take the field again at noon
on Saturday Sept. 25th at home against Willamette
University.
