Women's Soccer Ties Willamette On Senior Day

The Pioneers celebrated their nine seniors prior to their season finale

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College women's soccer secured a 1-1 tie on Senior Day to close out their 2025 season on Sunday morning at Griswold Stadium.Ā

THE BASICSĀ
Ā
Lewis & Clark 1, Willamette University 1
(Lewis & Clark 3-11-6, Northwest Conference 3-8-5)
(Willamette 3-7-9, NWC 2-6-8)Ā

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ā
Prior to the contest, Lewis & Clark honored their nine seniors: Delaney Jones, Anna Ingadottir, Carli Driskill, Sophie Rossier, Abby Morrow, Megan Yanagi,Ā Elle Sparks, Gwen Daoust and Kate Meinhard. The nine players were all playing their final collegiate soccer game and were all four-years members of the L&C women's soccer program.Ā
Ā
Junior Grace Smith gave Lewis & Clark a 1-0 in the 79thĀ minute but Willamette responded with a free kick goal just under three minutes later.Ā
Ā
The two teams played a fairly even game with Lewis & Clark holding a slim 16-15 edge in total shots. Both sides finished with six shots on goal and the Pioneers held a slim 5-3 edge in corner kicks.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark started the game with all eight healthy seniors on the pitch. Daoust earned her first collegiate start and Jones played at center forward for the first time in her collegiate career.Ā
Ā
Willamette came out on the front foot but were stymied by Ingadottir. The senior keeper rushed out and made a point blank save on Amanda McArthur to keep the score 0-0 in the eighth minute. She would post all four of her saves in the first 24 minutes to keep the Bearcats at bay.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark grew into the game and had multiple chances to take the lead just before and after halftime.Ā
Ā
Sophomore Sophia Gill had a point-blank chance from four-yards out stopped by Siera Edwards in the 38thminute.Ā
Ā
Morrow nearly scored her second collegiate goal on a corner routine in the 40thĀ minute. She was left all alone at the near post but her header blasted off the post to keep the score 0-0.Ā
Ā
Meinhard nearly made it 1-0 in the 57thĀ minute. On a corner kick, she sent a shot through traffic that beat the keeper, but a Willamette defender cleared the ball off the line.Ā
Ā
Smith broke the deadlock at 78:58. Lewis & Clark created the chance off of a Carli Driskill corner kick. The initial corner was cleared out, but only as far as Smith, and her shot from the top of the box bounced through traffic and inside the far post for a 1-0 lead.Ā
Ā
Maddee Reid made it 1-1 when she lofted a free-kick from 25 yards out to tie the score at 81:45.
Ā
Willamette had an excellent chance to win the game in the final minute. Samantha Rodriguez sent a line drive shot towards the far post but Jones made a diving save and parried the ball out for a corner kick.Ā
Ā
BY THE NUMBERSĀ
  • Lewis & Clark and Willamette finished tied for seventh in the conference with 14 points apiece.Ā
