NEWBERG, Ore. – Women's soccer travelled to Newberg to face off against the George Fox Bruins (5-10-3, NWC 4-9-1) on Saturday. Natalie Levy scored two goals for Lewis & Clark (3-12-3, NWC 1-12-1) but the Bruins' Melanie Gaither put the nail in the coffin scoring her second goal of the game in the 84th minute securing a 3-2 victory for George Fox.

George fox scored first on Saturday in the 14th minute with a shot from the left side by Sarah Brase after a nice assist by Melanie Gaither. Neither team found the back of the net during the rest of the first half but the Pioneers did create some chances. Lewis & Clark outshot the Bruins 7-5 and 4-1 in shots on goal in the first half only to be denied of a goal each time.

In the 63rd minute Gaither made it a two score game as she gathered a loose ball and weaved her way through the Lewis & Clark defense scoring in the lower right corner past goalkeeper Elise Delgado. The Pioneers answered back in the 70th minute with a nice free kick from 25 yards out by Natalie Levy. Levy kicked a well placed ball off the crossbar and into the net to make the score 2-1 George Fox.

Levy was not done. Six minutes later she shot from 20 yards out and into the upper left corner of the net following a nice pass from Katie Browning. It is Levy's fifth goal of the season. With the score tied at 2-2 the game seemed to be headed to overtime. In the 84th minute, Shannon Olson put a through ball to Gaither in the middle and she capitalized scoring her second goal of the day. With the score 3-2 in favor of George Fox, the Pioneers' Cat Kitts made a valiant effort to try and tie the game in the last few minutes missing just over the crossbar. The Gaither goal would be the last of the game as the Bruins held on to win 3-2.

George fox outshot the Pioneers 18-16 but Lewis & Clark had more shots on goal winning that battle 9-8. Bruin goalkeeper Alyssa Montero made seven saves on the day while Delgado had five. The Pioneers were led by Levy with six shots while the Bruins were led by Gaither who had six shots as well.
