Hansen Ratings D3 Coordinators Podcast (Segment Starts at 19:55)

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College football defensive coordinator Daniel Fields was named the Hansen Ratings D3 Defensive Coordinator of the Week Presented by Tully, the website announced on Thursday.

Fields was recognized and appeared on their podcast earlier this week after Lewis & Clark's defense put together one of their best performances in recent memory. The Pioneers defense allowed three points and racked up seven sacks and 11 tackles-for-loss against reigning Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champions Pomona-Pitzer in a 21-3 win over the Sagehens. The three points allowed were the fewest by a Lewis & Clark defense since 2010.

Fields is in his third season leading Lewis & Clark's defensive. He joined the Pioneers coaching staff after working at his alma mater, UCLA, for nearly a decade. In his first two seasons with the Pioneers, Lewis & Clark has finished in the top-four in the conference in back-to-back seasons and made steady improvements on the defensive side of the ball. This season the team has allowed just 11.0 points per game, held opponents to an 0-9 mark on fourth down and forced five turnovers in three games.
