D3Football.com Podcast - Lewis & Clark Football Conversation and Brett Elliott Interview Begins at 29:05
PORTLAND, Ore.—For the second-straight week and third time in program history, Lewis & Clark College football is receiving votes in the D3football.com Top-25 Poll, the website announced on Sunday night.
Football collected two points for a second-consecutive week to tie their most in program history. They are one of 38 teams to earn votes in this week's poll.
The Pioneers are off to their best start since 2012 (4-0) after posting a 21-3 road win over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday in California. Football allowed their fewest points in a game on Saturday since they shutout Pacific University 48-0 on October 2, 2010. The Pioneers posted their most sacks (seven) and tackles-for-loss (11) since October 6, 2018 against the University of Puget Sound.
Lewis & Clark is one of 29 NCAA DIII teams that are sitting 3-0 to start the season. It's the 13
th time in program history the team has started 3-0 or better and only the fifth time (1980, 1995, 2011, 2012) they've accomplished the feat in the past 45 years. If the Pioneers can win their next game, they will be one of just 10 teams in program history to have started at least 4-0.
The Pioneers are off to a fantastic start on both sides of the ball. The defense ranks 20
th in NCAA DIII in points per game allowed (11.0). They also sit seventh in sacks per game (4.0), eighth in rushing defense (37.0 yards per game), eighth in red zone defense (50%) and 63
rd in team tackles-for-loss (7.0). Lewis & Clark is also first in the nation in opponent's fourth-down conversion rate. There are one of 20 teams that have yet to allow a fourth-down conversion and Lewis & Clark has faced more of those attempts (nine) than any of the other 20 teams.
Offensively, the Pioneers rank 35
th in the nation with their 38.3 points per game. They sit 12
th in third-down conversion rate (54.3 percent), 13
th in completion percentage (72.2 percent), 14
th in team passing efficiency (189.01), 19
th in total first downs (72), 30
th in team offensive yards per game (462.0 per) and 34
th in red zone offense (92.9 percent).
Sophomore quarterback
Dashiell Weaver ranks in the top-100 in DIII in 11 different categories. He sits fifth overall in passing touchdowns (11), 14
th in completion percentage (72.9 percent), 18
th in total passing yards (815) and 29
th in total offensive yards per game (304.3).
First year wide receiver
Sytyn Lasconia is 15
th in the country with his four receiving touchdowns through three weeks. The first year has snagged at least one touchdown in every game and had a fifth touchdown reception called back for a penalty. Junior defensive end
JT Chavez ranks 14
th in DIII with his 2.17 tackles-for-loss per game and 15
th with 1.33 sacks per contest.
Lewis & Clark will be off this week, before hosting the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, October 4 at 1 p.m. in their 2025 Northwest Conference opener.
