Quinn Higgins won the 1,500M and men's outdoor track & field posted 15 top-10 finishes on Saturday at the Willamette University Invitational.

Lewis & Clark finished first, second, third and fourth in the 1,500M and sophomore

JT Willis each posted top-50 marks in program history in the Pioneers final meet in the month of March.
Higgins led a field of 14 runners in the 1,500M. The sophomore crossed the line in 4:02.69 to win the event by nearly three seconds. Fellow sophomore
Samuel Garcia took second in 4:05.37. Sophomore
Evan Markelz (4:06.43) barely edged senior
Peter Ford (4:06.54) with the pair placing third and fourth overall. Sophomores
Emil Miller (4:15.38) and
John Blockhus (4:20.98) finished the race back-to-back in 11
th and 12
th overall. Junior
Noah Nelson closed in 4:24.88 to place 14
th overall.
Higgins also paced the Pioneers in the 800M. The sophomore finished sixth out of 11 runners with a time of 2:01.47. Garcia notched a PR time of 2:01.82 to place seventh overall. Sophomore
Jordan Wu came across in eighth place with a time of 2:03.30. Senior
Peter Ford registered a PR time of 2:04.55 to finish in 10
th place.
Fung led the Pioneers sprinters on Saturday. He posted the 86
th-fastest time in NCAA DIII this season in the 400M. Fung crossed the line in 49.91 to finish third out of 11 competitors.
Fung also led four Lewis & Clark runners in the 200M. He won his heat in a PR time of 23.14 to place ninth out of 17 sprinters. First years
Aiden Wood (23.68 – PR) and
Jaden Mwendapole (24.31) finished 12
th and 14
thoverall. Junior
Zaren Crockett added a PR time of his own, as he crossed the line in 25.21 to finish 17
th.
Willis posted the top result for Lewis & Clark in the field events on Saturday.
He finished fourth out six throwers in the javelin throw. The senior launched the device 48.22M (158-02.00 Feet) for a new PR in the event. Junior
Jon Fritz finished sixth in the event after posting a mark of 45.91M (150-08 Feet).
Sophomore
Keegan Zaso and first year
Kris Adams competed in the long jump. Zaso recorded a leap of 6.09M (19-11.75 Feet) to place sixth out of 10 jumpers. Adams came in eight overall with a jump of 5.97M (19-07.00 Feet).
Sophomore
Liam Stanley notched a PR throw in the discus. Stanley finished in 12
th place with a heave of 30.73M (100-10.00 Feet).
BY THE NUMBERS
- Fung posted the 24th-best time in program history in the 400M. He improved his PR in the 400M by 0.99 seconds on Saturday.
- Fritz finished in 16th place in the 100M with a time of 11.61.
- Willis posted a massive PR in the javelin. His best throw on Saturday traveled nearly 27 feet further than his previous-best mark.
- Junior Theron Plumb placed sixth in the 5,000M with a time of 16:31.61.
WHAT'S NEXT
Lewis & Clark will compete in two meets next weekend. A small group will travel to California for the Stanford Invitational on Friday night. The rest of the team will compete at Linfield University's Jenn Boyman Memorial Invite on Saturday.
