Cummings took first place out of eight swimmers in the 100 Backstroke. She finished 2.84 seconds ahead of second-place, when she touched the wall in 1:01.48. First year
Zoe Thorpe placed second on the team and sixth overall with a time of 1:10.09. First year

Aniqah Gaffoor registered a pair of second-place finishes.Ā

Gaffoor finished just 0.15 seconds behind Whitworth's Grace Esteban in the 50 Free. The senior touched the wall in 25.88 to take second place. Senior
Kyra Milner placed sixth in the event with a mark of 29.94. Kuenz (30.36) and senior
Ainsley Rios (30.40) finished in seventh and eighth places.Ā

Gaffoor led Lewis & Clark in the 100 Butterfly. She posted a time of 1:02.03 to finish just 0.73 seconds behind Esteban. Thorpe finished fifth overall with a mark of 1:08.03.Ā

Elise Barton registered the team's final second-place finish. Barton took second out of six swimmers in the 100 Free with a time of 56.41. Milner registered a time of 1:10.53 to place sixth.Ā

Claire Hurty and junior
Sophie Justus led Lewis & Clark in the distance events. Hurty took third in the Mile with a time of 20:49.54. Justus placed fourth overall in the event with a mark of 21:15.78.Ā

Justus earned a third-place finish in the 500 Free. The junior notched a time of 6:05.96. Hurty placed fourth in the event with a time of 6:22.41.Ā

Lewis & Clark opened the day with a third-place showing in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Cummings, senior
AJ Schroeder, Gaffoor and Barton placed third out of four relay teams with a time of 1:56.71.Ā

The River Otters added a fourth-place showing in the 200 Free Relay to close out the meet. Justus, Thorpe, senior
Ella Gimon and Hurty combined for a time of 1:53.11.Ā

BY THE NUMBERSĀ
- Cummings' time in the 100 Backstroke (1:01.48) would rank ninth all-time in program history if not for a previous better time. She sits fourth in program history in the event, after swimming a 59.71 at conference last year.Ā
- Barton led four Lewis & Clark swimmers in the 200 Free. She posted a time of 2:07.44. Schroeder (2:16.35), McAnally (2:19.41) and Gimon (2:27.49) finished in fifth, sixth and seventh places.Ā
- Hurty and Justus covered a lot of distance across their two meets this weekend. The duo each competed in six races and swam 3,800 yards or 76 laps.Ā
- Cummings represented Lewis & Clark in the 400 IM. The junior posted a time of 5:10.43.Ā
- Schroeder and Gimon finished in fifth and sixth in the 100 Breaststroke. Schroeder registered a time of 1:17.90. Gimon finished in 1:22.37.Ā

Swimming will head to Tacoma next weekend for their final two dual meets of 2025. They will take on the University of Puget Sound on Friday at 6 p.m.
