Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers (4-3-1, 2-2-0) hosted the Pacific Lutheran Lutes (7-0-0, 3-0-0) Sunday afternoon at Griswold Stadium for game two of their weekend doubleheader, losing 2-0.
Despite a strong defensive performance that kept the game scoreless through halftime, the Lutes managed to find their mark in the 62st minute off a goal from Julia Causbie. The goal only shifted momentum slightly, as the Pioneers' offense stepped up through the second half, creating five scoring opportunities to their zero in the first 45 minutes of play. Four of the five shots were on goal.
The Lutes found the net again in the 82nd second minute off a score from Vera Panescu-Reich which clinched the win. Pacific Lutheran remains undefeated in both conference and non-conference play so far this season.
Abby Prager tended goal for the Pioneers for the full 90 minutes of play, and made three saves in the first half.

Key Moments
The Pioneers' defense had a big game against an aggressive Lutes offense, limiting the amount of corner kick opportunities that Pacific Lutheran typically sees and doing a good job of clearing corner kicks out quickly. The Lutes took 12 corner kicks to the Pioneers' one.
Freshmen Abby Hayes and Sofia Congram played physical and fast on and off the ball to effectively shut down the wingers for the Lutes, while veterans Alexa Myers and Madi Pastores led the efforts to stop dangerous balls and clear out players on their way to the net.
Prager's performance played a big part in keeping the Lutes off the scoreboard in the first half as she managed to get hands and fingers on balls that otherwise would have been in the net.
