Box Score SALEM, Ore. -- A penalty kick goal in the 87th minute broke a tie in the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 4-3 loss to the Willamette Bearcats on Wednesday night at Sparks Field.
Willamette's Lacey Jones scored with under four minutes left after a penalty was called on the Pios. Prior to the game-winner, Lewis & Clark's Anjali Kothari and Caitlin Gallagher, both seniors, scored on goals in the 84th and 86th minutes, respectively, to tie the game at three. Kothari's is the first of her career.
Brecklyn Beighle scored the Pioneers first tally in the 23rd minute for her team-best fourth of the season. All three of Lewis & Clark's shots scored against Willamette goalkeeper Grasiela Quevedo-Ramos.

Key Moments
The Pioneers were called for nine fouls in the match including three more (4-1) in the second half. The last prompted the Jones penalty kick, which was scored in the upper right of the net.
The penalty disrupted a string of play that put the Pios even after two goals in a two-minute span after Lewis & Clark fell behind 3-1. Off a pass from Courtney Schmidt, Kothari scored from 19 yards out left into the upper middle of the goal to cut the deficit down to 3-2. Following an unsuccessful corner kick try, the Pioneers scored again on a 15-yarder by Gallagher to the lower middle off Beighle's pass.
Lewis & Clark had trailed for multiple 20-minute stretches in the game prior to evening the score. Willamette scored four minutes in on Caroline Adams goal and held the lead until the 23rd minute when Beighle scored on a 14-yard free kick into the lower right. Sydney Wilson put the Bearcats back ahead in the 37th minute. The lead was extended in the 70th minute on Emma Blackburn's 8-yard score.
