PORTLAND, Ore. -- 10 3-pointers, six of which came in the first half, powered the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 64-60 win over the Puget Sound Loggers on Saturday night at Pamplin Sports Center. Four Pioneers hit double figures as Lewis & Clark snapped its 13-game losing streak.

Peyton Romo made four 3-pointers, a new career high, on 4 of 6 shooting for a career-high 12 points and added a game-most seven rebounds. Delsie Johnson and Jessica Cerne added 14 points each, a new career best for Cerne, while Hannah Martin totaled 11. Johnson made 10 of 12 from the free-throw line, a new career high for free throws made. Martin led the game with four steals, her most ever.

Lewis & Clark won its season opener 85-69 over Northwest last November, but had dropped its next 13 entering Saturday. The win over Puget Sound is the Pios' third Northwest Conference game decided by a margin of less than 10 points this season.

Key Moments

Puget Sound (7-8, 1-5 NWC) opened to an 8-0 lead and moved ahead by the same margin at the end of the first quarter. Jamie Lange, Puget Sound's lead scorer, had seven of her game-high 23 points in the period.

Midway through the second, Lewis & Clark (2-12, 1-5 NWC) moved to within a single possession numerous times, but never went ahead. The Pios used 3-pointers from Laurel Marchant, Martin, Romo and Cerne to close the gap to 35-34 at halftime. 

Out of the break, Romo and Martin scored on consecutive possessions and the Pioneers led for the first time, 39-35. The Pios held Puget Sound scoreless for the first five minutes of the quarter and grew a handful of six-point leads. Lewis & Clark outscored the Loggers 16-9 in the quarter and maintained it through the fourth to close out the victory.

Lewis & Clark held the Loggers to a season-low three 3-pointers (3 of 22). Despite a 20-10 edge in turnovers, Puget Sound only scored one more point than the Pioneers off the takeaways (17-16).

• The NWC win is the second for head coach Kristina Williams and the second home win for the Pioneers this year
• Romo (32) and Cerne (37) each totaled new career highs for minutes played with Romo, while Marchant hit an all-time best for assists (5) to go with seven points and four rebounds
• Cerne totaled a new career high for minutes (37) and made field goals (6), while she matched her most 3-point attempts in a game (7) for the third time in her last four games
• Johnson finished the weekend still among the NWC's top five in three key categories: third in points and rebounds per game, and second in field-goal percentage
