PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College women's basketball produced a balanced scoring day and stayed within one possession deep into the fourth quarter before Warner Pacific University closed out an 82–74 result on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Junior Lauryn Frederickson (16points), sophomore Kaitlen Carns (13 points) and first-year Lilly Jordan (10 points) paced Lewis & Clark in double figures. Frederickson just missed out on a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds. Carns led the team with four assists and matched Frederickson with two steals. Jordan shot 4-for-7 from the field and made two three-pointers.

First-year Hailey Perez contributed nine points on three made threes. Fellow first-year Ali McCauley and junior DJ Kendrick each added eight points. Junior Kaela Guidry (four points, one block) ranked second on the team with seven rebounds, while McCauley and Kendrick grabbed seven and six boards to help the Otts finish with a 43–33 advantage on the glass.

Lewis & Clark opened the afternoon with a 23–17 first quarter. Jordan hit a three at the 7:30 mark to make it 7–5, and the River Otters held the lead for the next 15 minutes. Guidry and Carns converted inside, and Frederickson completed a three-point play for a 16–7 advantage with under five minutes left. McCauley added a three to extend the margin to 21–10, the largest lead of the game, with 2:06 remaining. Frederickson closed the quarter with a free throw that made it 23–17.

Warner Pacific shifted the momentum in the second. After Carns hit a three to give the Otts a 31–23 edge at 5:57, the Knights responded with a 6–0 run to cut the margin to 31–29. Kendrick pushed the lead back to six with 2:16 left, but KJ Custer scored five straight points to pull the Knights within 39–38 with 1:43 on the clock. Warner Pacific took a 40–39 lead at 1:17 and carried a 44–39 advantage into halftime as part of an 11–0 run.

The Knights opened the third quarter with a 13–5 run to build a 52–39 lead, their largest of the game, with 6:06 remaining. The River Otters answered. Junior Divinity Singleton (six points, five rebounds) sank two free throws to begin a 12–1 run that pulled Lewis & Clark within 62–60 on a Kendrick layup at 1:11. Jordan knocked down a three in the final minute to make it 64–63 after three.

Lewis & Clark stayed within a possession for the first five minutes of the fourth. Perez hit a three at 6:42 to cut the margin to 71–70. Warner Pacific's Skylar Groesbeck scored the next eight points, including back-to-back threes, to push the Knights ahead 79–70 with 3:30 left. Frederickson added two late layups, but the Otts could not close the gap.
