PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers lost their final non-conference game of the season to the Northwest Eagles, 3-1. The Eagles established their lead early, scoring all three of their goals in the first half and taking their lead into halftime. The Pios seemed to find their rhythm in the second half, keeping the Eagles from scoring again and taking 10 of their 14 shots. A late goal got them on the scoreboard, but wasn't enough to close the gap and force overtime play.

The Pios outshot the Eagles 14-7, but were unable to find the net until the 85th minute of the game, when Jezza Hutto scored off a corner kick from Angelina Peterson. In a foul heavy and very physical game, the Pios did a good job interrupting the rhythm of the Eagles despite the loss. 

Milan Davis started in goal for the Pios and took the loss, making one save and allowing three goals. Megan Sawyer finished in goal, with no saves or goals as the Eagles failed to create a scoring opportunity in the second half.

Key Moments

Freshman Jezza Hutto scored the Pios lone goal of the game off a corner kick from Angelina Peterson. The ball found the back of the net when Huzzo headed it in off a cross from her left in the 85th minute. The goal was Hutto's first of her collegiate career.

In what was another highly physical game, the Pioneers racked up 17 fouls and a yellow card as they battled the Eagles for possession. Julia Markmann again led the team in shots with five and two on goal. Markmann saw her first opportunity at the 20:52 mark and then again at 35:56 but neither found its way to the back of the net. She took her other three opportunities late in the second half, two coming after Jezza Hutto's goal in the hopes of building off the scoring momentum.

Upperclassmen Kennie Beighle and Anna Saucedo also helped lead the team in creating scoring opportunities, with two shots each. Both of Beighle's shots were on goal.
