Pioneers fall short in their second conference game

Forest Grove, Ore. -- The Pioneers fell in their second conference game of the season against the Pacific University Boxers. Both teams went into the second half without scoring leaving the game tied, 0-0. 

The Boxers scored early in the second half leading the game offensivley. The Pioneers struggled to make any offensive runs successfully. The Pios were shut out ending the game with a score of 0-1. 

Key Moments

At the seventh minute of the game the Pacific Boxers started off strong with shots by Kira Negrete and Emily Thompson that were saved by Megan Sawyer. The Pios then striked back offensively with a shot attempt by Caroline Hennes which missed wide of the goal. Senior Erin Lutz also had two shots on the goal in the half that were saved by Pacific's Kali Barber which lead the Pios into the second half tied, 0-0. 

The Boxers scored early in the second half dropping the Pioneers early. The Pioneers tried to make an offensive run with shots by Sara Klott, Courtney Schmidt, Karli Barber, and Caroline Hennes that were saved by Pacific. The Pios went the last 18 minutes without any shot attempts which eventually led the Pioneers to defeat.

The Pioneers continue their conference play next weekend playing both Linfield and Puget Sound at home next weekend Sept. 22 and Sept. 23.
