PORTLAND, Ore. -- Freshman McKenzie Wingard scored her first career goal less than two minutes into the second half as the Lewis & Clark Pioneers finished in a 1-1 draw with the Hamline Pipers on Friday at Griswold Stadium.

Wingard scored in the 47th minute to break the scoreless tie from the opening half. Hamline's Arendje Louter scored with less than 10 minutes to go in regulation to even the match, which ultimately went to double overtime without another score.

Including Wingard, the Pioneers (0-0-1) started six freshmen including goalkeeper Megan Sawyer, who played all 110 minutes and made three saves. Wingard took a team-high three shots, two of which were on goal. Classmate Kennie Beighle also put her first collegiate shot in frame. Louter led the game with four shots.

The Pioneers took the game's only lead despite being outshot 9-8 in regulation and 12-8 in the game. Hamline (0-0-1) also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Hamline goalkeeper Kat Armstrong made three saves. She stopped a first half shot by Anna Saucedo, who later had another shot blocked in the opening half. Sarah Howard took two shots for the Pios, both of which missed wide.

In the overtime periods, Lewis & Clark was held without a shot. Erin Lutz threw in a corner kick in the 107th minute, but the Pios didn't get a shot.

Lewis & Clark hosts Beloit on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Pios play all four of their non-conference games at Griswold Stadium, including Thursday against Corban and Sept. 9 against Oregon Tech.
