Box Score TACOMA, Wash. -- After allowing quick goals the day before against Puget Sound, Lewis & Clark sought a fast start itself on Sunday against Pacific Lutheran, and the Pios did just that.
Isobel Fikso scored the game's first goal, and her first of the season, off Megan Ratfield's corner kick to give Lewis & Clark a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, but Pacific Lutheran scored the game's next three goals to win at home 3-1 at East Field.
Lewis & Clark (4-2, 0-2 NWC) outshot PLU 8-1 in the first 30 minutes, but the Lutes had more for the entire match, 16-12. PLU also had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. Lewis & Clark committed 16 fouls in the game, while the Lutes had four.
The score by Fikso came on the second shot of the game for the Pios. Off the Ratfield corner, Fikso scored at the back post against PLU goalkeeper Takara Mitsui, who went on to save four of five shots on goal by the Pioneers.
Kylie Carera had the game's first shot just a minute in and another in the 26th minute. Karley Pate missed wide in the 13th minute and Anna Thorndike, who led the Pios in shots on Saturday against Puget Sound, forced a save by Mitsui nine minutes later.

Through the 29 minutes in which Lewis & Clark had its eight first half shots, PLU only had one - Jamie Hoffman's fifth minute effort that was blocked - and the Pios led 1-0.
Pacific Lutheran (5-1-1, 1-1-1) took control from that moment on, outshooting Lewis & Clark 15-4.
Emily Hanna and Ashley Mindnich forced saves by Lewis & Clark goalkeeper Kelley Koeppen in the 31st minute before Taylor Lunde had one blocked and missed another wide six minutes later.
Koeppen (4-2) saved another shot, this time a header from Kelly White off Lena Moreno's corner in the 38th minute. White missed another high in the 40th before being awarded a penalty kick a minute later.
She scored on the right side of the net past Koeppen, getting her first goal of the year, and tying the match 1-1.
In the second half, Lewis & Clark again started better than PLU, getting two corner tries and two shots on goal, one by Thorndike and another by Pate, in the first 15 minutes, but the Pios couldn't add to their score.
Pacific Lutheran posted two shots in the next 15 minutes before Lewis & Clark's Hannah Stoddard was issued a yellow card in the 78th minute.
Off a corner 35 seconds later, Hanna missed high before Mindnich scored from the back post in the 79th minute to give PLU its first lead, 2-1. Megan Anderson had the assist.
A half-minute afterward, Thorndike was issued a yellow card and White scored on her second penalty kick of the afternoon to put the Lutes up 3-1.
