PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team need a win over the Whitman Missionaries, the No. 2 team in the country, on Saturday night in order to keep its Northwest Conference play-off hopes alive. Unfortunately the Missionaries managed to pull out a 77-70 win, ending the Pioneers season. 

The Pioneers end the season 13-12 overall and 8-8 in conference action. The Missionaries finish the regular season a perfect 25-0 overall and 16-0 in the NWC. Whitman will move onto the playoffs at the No. 1 seed. 

Casey Zinn put an exclamation point on the end of her season, scoring a game-high 29 points for the Pioneers. The junior forward was 7-of-7 from the free-throw line and 10-of-16 from the floor. Senior Katie Anderson netted 15 points in her final game as a Pioneer, while freshman Ayisat Afolabi recorded 11 points. Zinn also ended the night with a game-high 11 rebounds and a block. 

Heather Johns scored a team-high 28 points for the Missionaries, while Hailey Mcdonald and Meghan White each scored 13. 

Senior Kathlene Howe put the Pioneers ahead with an early layup. Johns and White teamed up to score eight points for the Missionaries over the next two minutes to put Whitman ahead 8-7. The Missionaries would never relinquish the lead the rest of the way. 

Senior Tayler Wang, who has not played in the Pioneers last three games due to a season ending knee injury, suited up for senior day and netted the games final basket pulling the team within seven points.
