Ratfield Scores Early Goal in 1-1 Draw for Women's Soccer

Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. - Megan Ratfield netted the Lewis & Clark women's soccer teams only goal of the day on Saturday, as the Pioneers tied the Whitman Missionaries 1-1 after two overtime periods.

The tie moves the Pioneers to 9-5-3 on the season and 7-4-2 in Northwest Conference action. Whitman moves to 8-7-3 overall and 6-5-3 in conference.

Ratfields goal came in the 64th minute of action. The junior found herself in the right place at the right time as the ball rebounded right to her foot after the Whitman keeper made a save on an Emily Thompson shot.

Lewis & Clark owned much of the possession in the contest, while holding a dominating 17-7 advantage in shots.

Despite having the majority of the run of play, the Pioneers found themselves heading into overtime after Whitman found the back of the net in the final minute on a long ranged shot from Danielle Audino.

Lewis & Clark had nearly all of the chances in two overtime periods but were unable to find another goal.

The team returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 2 for their final home game of the year. The game is set to begin at 11 a.m. with the Pioneer seniors being recognized following the contest.
