Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team picked up the series win over George Fox, defeating the Bruins for the second time this season on Saturday afternoon. Goals by Emily Thompson and Anna Thorndike lifted the Pioneers to a 2-1 win.
The win moves the Pioneers to 8-4-2 on the season and 6-3-1 in Northwest Conference action. The Bruins fall to 2-8-3 overall and 2-6-1 in the NWC.
All three of the goals were scored just seven minutes a part with the Pioneers knocking in the first two.
Megan Ratfield setup Thompson for the Pioneers first goal of the day, dribbling down the line before crossing it to Thompson. The junior forward then did a little spin move around the keeper and tapped the ball into the net.
The Pioneers made it 2-0 just two minutes later with Kylie Carera connecting with Thorndike. Carera played the ball through to Thorndike who hit it first time to the far post from 15-yards out.
Becca Allen cut the Pioneer lead in half in the 23rd minute, beating Geena Fong one-on-one.
Despite allowing the Bruins a goal, Fong recorded yet another complete game victory for the Pioneers, making three saves.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Pacific for a 12 p.m. start.
