BOXSCORE

SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team began Northwest Conference play Wednesday night with a 3-2 victory over host Willamette.

The Pioneers got on the board early with a goal by senior Natalie Levy in the sixth minute.  Ten minutes later Willamette's Sarah Desautels tied the game by sending the ball into the upper right corner from 30 yards out.

Sophomores Emily Thompson and Anna Thorndike pushed the lead to 3-1 in the 57th and 67th minutes, respectively.  Freshmen Marin Ricketson recorded her first assist of the season on Thorndike's goal.  The Bearcats got a final goal from Rachel Fleener in the 83rd minute but the late push was not enough as Lewis and Clark held on for the victory.

The win puts the Pioneers at 4-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play while Willamette slips to 2-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in NWC play.

Lewis and Clark hosts Whitworth on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10am and Whitman on Sunday, Sept. 22, at noon.
