Women's Soccer Falls to Chapman in First Away Game

BOX SCORE

ORANGE, Calif.— The Lewis & Clark Women's soccer team lost their first away game of the season to the Chapman University Panthers, falling 2-1 Thursday night at Wilson Field.

Freshman Anna Thorndike put the Pioneers on the scoreboard first in the 23rd minute with the only goal of the night for Lewis & Clark.

The Panthers responded with a goal 10 minutes later by sophomore Rebecca Bortz, leaving the score tied at halftime.

After halftime, Chapman rallied, scoring again in the 59th minute from a header by junior Val Sobol.

Pioneer sophomore goalkeeper Geena Fong picked up four saves during the game, and Freshman Emily Thompson led the team with four shots, while junior Natalie Levy had three.

The Pioneers play again on the road Friday, Sept. 7, against La Verne.
