Women's Soccer Gets First Conference Win against Whitman

BOX SCORE

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Pioneer women's soccer team received their first win of Northwest Conference (NWC) play, beating the Whitman Missionaries 2-0.

Lewis & Clark improves to 1-5 on their season, 1-2 in NWC play. The Missionaries lower their season record to 2-5, and their NWC record to 1-2.

Emily Thompson started things off for the Pioneers, scoring in the 9th minute, placing the ball perfectly in the top left corner of the box.

Then the Pioneers cemented their lead in the second half, with Sarah Breninger scoring in the 54th minute off an assist from Thompson.

Whitman could not find the back of the net, and Lewis & Clark goalkeeper Geena Fong collected the win and two saves.

Both the Pioneers and the Missionaries had seven shots, with Breninger collecting four for Lewis & Clark.

The Pioneers return to play on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Pacific Lutheran.
