PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team concluded the 2012 season on Saturday afternoon with a Northwest Conference contest against the Puget Sound Loggers. At halftime of the Pios 3-1 loss, the team honored all six graduating seniors.
The Pioneers end the season with their best record since the programs reinstatement in 2004. Lewis & Clark finishes 7-9-3 overall and 7-6-3 the NWC, which is good enough to earn them fourth place. The Loggers end the season as the regular season champions with a 13-4-1 overall and record and 12-2-1 NWC standing.
Lauren Swanson earned the Loggers a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute of action on a corner kick. Swanson headed the ball past Pio goalkeeper Geena Fong off a Kylie Beeson corner. A hand ball in the box in the 63rd minute earned Puget Sound a penalty kick, which was calmly placed in the goal by Theresa Henie.
Lewis & Clark cut the Logger lead in half in the 68th minute with a goal off a corner. Emilia Emmetti played the ball in from the left side, finding the head of freshman Anna Thorndike to make it a 2-1 game.
Haley Rosenberg sealed the victory for Puget Sound with an unassisted goal after pulling the ball off her right foot, switching to her left and firing it into net.
