PORTLAND, Ore. – A day after breaking the school record for most conference wins in a season, the Lewis & Clark women's soccer team took down the Whitworth Pirates 1-0, who heading into the game were first in the Northwest Conference (NWC).
This game improves the Pioneers record to 7-7-3, and 7-4-3 in NWC play. The Pirates fall to a 10-6-2 record overall, and 10-2-2 in NWC play.
With this win, the Pioneers also tie the school record for most wins in a season, and tie the school record for most assists in a season.
The lone goal came in the 34th minute, when Natalie Levy placed a cross from the right to Sarah Breninger, who found the back of the net with a header past the goalkeeper.
The Pioneers dominated possession during the game, outshooting the Pirates 19-5. Breninger contributed two shots, while Emily Thompson had five, and Kylie Carera and Anna Thorndike ended with three apiece.
Lewis & Clark returns to action for their final away game at George Fox on Friday Nov. 2nd at 12 p.m.
