Soccer Loses Battle to NWC Leader Linfield 2-1

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Linfield Wildcats were too much for the Lewis & Clark women's soccer team , beating the Pioneers 2-1 in their match up Saturday, Oct. 13th at Linfield.

The Pioneers fall to 4-5-2 on the season, and 4-4-2 in Northwest Conference (NWC) play. The Wildcats continue to lead the NWC with a record of 8-1-2, and 6-1-2 in NWC play.

Linfield got on the scoreboard first, with a goal in the 13th minute by Emma Vukic, with an assist from Emily Fellows.

Only eight minutes later, Vukic and Fellows combined again for another goal, with Vukic taking the goal and Fellows on the assist.

In the second half, the Pioneers received an opportunity in the form of a penalty kick in the 54th minute. Anna Thorndike took the kick and was able to find the back of the net past the Wildcat goalkeeper.

Linfield outshot Lewis & Clark 13-3, and Pioneer Geena Fong collected four saves for the day.

The Pioneers return to action tomorrow, Sunday Oct. 14th at Pacific.
