The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team lost to NAIA member Warner Pacific College in a energized effort that ended 1-0 Tuesday night. Both teams battled it out until the second half when the game winning goal was scored by Warner Pacific's Anna Blakeslee. The Pioneers fall to 0-2 on the season while the Knights rise to 1-0.
After halftime, Warner Pacific found the back of the net in the 10th minute giving them the first goal of the night. The Pioneers put continuous pressure on the Knights but despite the chances before them, were unable to put one on frame.
Sophomore Natalie Levy led the Pioneers in shots with four, two of them on goal. Junior Maddie Harper, sophomore Andi Glaeser, and sophomore Sarah Breninger each had two shots, while sophomore Austyn Byassee, junior Lexi Bolton and junior Traci Nakamura finished the match with one shot each.
Despite the loss the Pioneers finished with a 14-7 shot advantage and a 9-2 edge in corners. Junior goalkeeper Elise Delgado had three saves while first year keeper Geena Fong earned two.
The Pioneers return to action Friday, Sept. 9 at home against St. Catherine University. The game is set for 7:00 pm.
