PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team overpowered the George Fox Bruins Wednesday night in a Northwest Conference home match. The Pioneers improve to 3-14-2 on the season and 2-12-1 in conference play. The Bruins fall to 2-15-2 overall and 2-10-3 in the NWC.
Raquel McNeff scored in the 33rd minute for the Pioneers off an assist from Sarah Breninger, for her second goal of the season. The first half of the match ended 1-0 with the Pioneers leading eight shots to George Fox's three.
The Bruins played most of the second half on the Pioneers side of the field taking five shots to the Pioneers two but were unable to put points on the board. With the final shot of the game coming from Esther Harder, the Pioneers one their first game since Oct. 2 with a 1-0 finish.
Sarah Breninger led offensively for the Pioneers with four shots, two of which were on goal. Raquel McNeff took two, while Gillian Sullivan-Bing, Natalie Levy, Gina Watkins and Traci Nakamura each took one. Pioneer keeper Geena Fong earned three saves.
Tonight's match, the last home game for the Pioneers honored the teams two seniors. Natalie Stratton a four year letter for the team is a double major in Economics and Pyschology. Gillian Sullivan-Bing a three letter winner is majoring in English.
Lewis & Clark will play their last game of the season on the road, Friday Nov. 4 when they take on the Puget Sound Loggers starting at 12 pm.
