Portland, Ore. – Women's soccer falls to
the Linfield Wildcats (9-4, 7-2 NWC) with a 2-0 loss in their first
game of the weekend. The Wildcat's goals were scored by Emily
Fellows and Lindsey Dahl, both in the second half.
The first of half of the match started slow, with the majority
of play on the Lewis & Clark side of the field. The Pioneers
held off the Wildcats, with five saves from goalkeeper Elise Delgado.
Linfield dominated the field putting up seven shots on goal and
nine shots overall. Emily Fellows lead the Wildcats with nine, and
Sara Blake followed in second with three shots.
The two teams picked up momentum in the second half with
Linfield giving ten shots to Lewis & Clarks two. Katie Browning and
Andi Glaeser
stepped up for the Pioneers with two shots, Browning's, a shot on
goal.
In the fifty-ninth minute the Wildcats took advantage of a
penalty kick and Emily Fellows scored the first goal for Linfield.
Delgado put up a fight with five saves in the second half but gave
up another goal to the Wildcats. Lindsey Dahl put in another one
for Linfield with five minutes remaining in the game.
Linfields Kelsey Hasselblad played goalie for the Wildcats and
finished the game with one save.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 17th
traveling to Willamette University, to face off the Bearcats at a
noon start time.
