BOX SCORE
FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Pacific Boxers
proved to be too strong for the Lewis & Clark women's
soccer team, taking down the Pioneers 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in
a Northwest Conference match-up at Lincoln Park Stadium.
Tianna Homad put the Boxers up early, scoring her first goal of
the season just 81 seconds into the first half, connecting on a
long cross from outside the box.
The second half started slowly, but eventually opened up in the
75th minute on a Jenna Matsumoto goal. It didn't take long
for the Boxers to net their third and final goal, this time with
Cheryl Yasumoto deflecting a ball off the hands of Pio keeper Elise
Delgado just a minute after the Matsumoto goal.
The Pioneers put in a valiant effort to score in the first half of
action, with Gillian Sullivan-Bing cracking one off the cross-bar
just ten minutes into the game. Freshman Gina Watkins nearly netted
one in the 22nd minute, but was met by Pacific's goalkeeper.
Senior Liska Havel had the team's only shot on goal in the
second half, which was a rocket shot in the 57th minute.
Delgado made eight saves for the Pioneers, while her counterpart
Brittany Hartmann had three saves for the Boxers. Becca Roth led
the game in shots with five, while freshman Katie Cabuling, Molli
Bauke and Havel each had two shots for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Nov. 1 in their final home
game of the season, taking on George Fox at 11 a.m.
